- Coffee. Ick. It tastes like unhappy chalk.
- Artificial cherry flavoring. I wasn't sick often as a child, but if I was, I got a spoonful of something that has made artifical cherry flavor hell to me.
- Actual cherries.
- Maraschino cherries. The only exception to this is when I am drunk. [End of cherry- related subset.]
- Cream cheese. Why would you eat that.
- Yogurt. It's all slimy and I just can't.
- Sour cream. The warning is right there in the name. And how do you know it went bad?
- Nuts. I can eat them if they are ground up, but chunks? Sometimes people bake them into otherwise lovely baked goods and I get twitchy. [note: peanuts don't count. They are legumes.]
- Cottage cheese. I get a little nauseated just typing that out, actually. There are chunks-- I can't continue
- Parmesan cheese in a can. Stop that. Fresh is amazing.
- Stuffing. If I wanted to eat wet bread, I would.
- Cranberry sauce. I appreciate the iconic look of this on a table, but don't actually eat it.
- Yams. I am not into holidays, as a general rule, so you can imagine how much I hate Thanksgiving. [end of Thanksgiving- related subset]
- Pickles. Obviously.
Edited to add: coconut.

Date: 2012-08-28 04:37 pm (UTC)Now, to be fair, I'm not sure I've ever actually put sour cream in my mouth, because the part of me that is a three year old realizes it's icky, and I just can't. Maybe it's good. But better to be certain than to risk sour cream in my mouth, you know?

Date: 2012-08-28 04:15 pm (UTC)5.) Not a fan of straight-up cream cheese, no matter what flavor. In mashed potatoes, cheesecake, whatnot, it's good.
10.) Yay for the fresh stuff!
12.) I like a little spoonful of it, with something, if it's homemade and not the creepy canned shit. But I can't eat a whole scoop of it or whatever--it's basically like eating jam to me. I do not eat straight spoonfuls of jam.
14.) Also agreed. I just can't. Something about the texture.
You're inspiring me to do this list myself here. XD

Date: 2012-08-28 04:31 pm (UTC)And you know, my friends know I hate coffee, and we go to coffee shops (I get fruit flavored tea) and they order some half-caf double whipped mocha latte chai thing, and they say, you should try this, it doesn't even taste like coffee. But it DOES, it always does. I don't even eat tiramisu, and I studied abroad in Italy back in college.

Date: 2012-08-28 04:32 pm (UTC)I love yogurt, but it has to be the extra thick/Greek-style. Preferably blended, too, because that fruit on the bottom stuff is nasty.
Sour cream is, indeed, revolting? I can cook with it but I won't use it as a topping. One of the grossest things in the world to me is the vat of sour cream at Chipotle. Gag.

Date: 2012-08-28 05:48 pm (UTC)My list of things I will not eat: veal, most chicken nuggets (both because of the methods of production), offal (I did try some once, sort of by accident, and GROSS) Jell-O with stuff in it, American cheese that comes in individually wrapped slices, lamb (I think it tastes like gym socks), and raw tomatoes. I'll eat raw tomatoes if I have to, or if they're in salsa, but I prefer to avoid them because the texture is weird.
I have a recipe for a hazelnut coffee cake. The batter includes cream cheese, and it has a mocha glaze. I think I should make it for you.

Date: 2012-08-28 07:53 pm (UTC)To be fair, I ate cottage cheese and yogurt as a kid. There are a few things I went through cycles of not eating: jelly, sausage on pizza, green beans. I rarely ate gravies or sauces, and I never buttered my rolls. People generally don't give coffee to kids, and I don't think we ever had canned parm in my house. And really, hardly anything on that list is a main dish.
Oh, and my mom hates coconut. I'm certain at least some of my hate there was nurture over nature.

Date: 2012-08-28 10:40 pm (UTC)I will also add: raw onions (I can do cooked onions), peaches, mayonnaise, processed cheese products, any and all types of seafood with the exception of tuna fish. Especially the pickled octopus my future MIL tries to feed me sometimes. Yeah, not happening.
But damn, I love my dairy products and meat!

Date: 2012-08-28 11:44 pm (UTC)(I will add the caveat that I am allergic to shellfish and have celiac disease. So I do not eat anything with gluten, although I do gluten-free equivalents if it's something I enjoy. The gluten thing just makes it seem like I am pickier than I am when dining out or at parties.)
Melon
Sour cream
Raw tomatoes (unless in salsa or accompanied by basil)
Raw celery (cooked is fine)
Sushi
Tea
Wine
Diet sodas (though I recently had a Diet Dr Pepper and almost liked it, so that tide may be turning)
Cilantro
Ginger
Milk chocolate (love dark chocolate though)
Strawberries in most forms. (Strawberries are my favorite food, but I will only eat them plain or with whipped cream. No to smoothies, pie, jam, anything strawberry-flavored.)
Chicken and pork if it is cubed. (By far the strangest thing on this list, I think. Shredded is fine but diced/cubed...gag. It's an aversion I developed when I was pregnant.)
Pickles (the exception: on an In N Out animal style cheeseburger)
Olives

• Angel Food cake
• Stuffing (and why bother competing with my brothers for it during the holidays anyway)
• Cottage Cheese (GROSS)
• Watermelon candy
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I don't eat canned vegetables but that's because I grew up around food snobs who froze vegetables themselves. Also, my parents never liked liver, tuna fish or anything with the word Helper on the box.
Had a very emotional night planning what I could eat — side dish-wise — at my grandma's party this Sunday. Layered lettuce salad shouldn't be called salad!
