Trick Or Treat (2018)

Hello creator!

The Trick or Treat exchange has been a joy for years, and I’m thrilled to be back. I’ve participated several times in these exchanges and this is super low-key and fun, fantastic to prepare for Yuletide. I’m throwing prompts up for tricks or treats, but feel free to ignore the holiday if you’d rather write some canon or AU or something trope-y-- send them on a roadtrip, lock them in a closet, throw them in a elevator. I tend to ship canon but also adore gen. Focus on one or two characters or send everyone to a party. Have fun, do something weird (if you want!) and I’m going to love whatever you post. This can be your opportunity to experiment.  All of these are for fic or art. Also, these are mostly open canons, so don’t worry if you get canon-balled mid-season.

The Good Place

Eleanor

The Good Place has been amazing both seasons, and I am pumped for season three! Feel free to focus on whatever part of canon you want; original flavor, one of the reboots, the Bad Place, or whatever season three is bringing us. AUs are always appreciated, so put them on the moon, in high school, or in some high-concept weirdness. Chidi/Eleanor is my pairing of choice.

Treats: Tahani throws a party, Chidi has lived all over the world but somehow never celebrated Halloween and has a lot of questions about the logistics, Eleanor takes Chidi trick-or-treating, Jason has to show Janet how Halloween works via scary movies, Janet throws a Halloween celebration but doesn’t get anything quite right

Tricks: Michael sabotages Tahini’s party, Jason decides to prank everyone, Janet malfunctions and believes she is haunted, Eleanor is haunted by all the mean things she did to trick or treaters on earth, for Halloween Michael decides to make everything like The Bad Place for a day, everyone resets into a Halloween-themed Bad Place

Store of my heart. Please include whatever characters you enjoy. Amy/Jonah is my favorite pairing but I enjoy gen adventures as well. Anything you can do to ignore the pregnancy is baller to me. Set it in whatever season you’d like. Also, if you want to do some wacky AU that takes them out of the store, I’m down as long as they are the minimum wage workers of whatever time and place that is.

Treats: Amy throws a party for the store, Jonah wants to teach everyone the origins of Halloween traditions, Amy and Jonah accidentally wearing matching or complimentary costumes, destroying Halloween merchandise together in November

Tricks: Amy and Jonah: Halloween prank war, it’s only wrong to kiss again if they aren’t wearing costumes, the customers always get a little weirder on Halloween

Adorable Netflix movie! I could live in the sexual tension and the failure to communicate. A slice or a missing scene would be great; post movie cuteness is also great.

Tricks: Lara Jean visits a spooky haunted house, Lara visits the grave of her mother and feels/sees something weird, power outage at the school on Halloween, Halloween party spin-the-bottle

Treats: Halloween cupcake exchange, accidental matching costumes, hayrides and apple cider, Lara Jean practices putting a condom on a banana with Chris (or a SUBWAY sandwich (tm))

Set It Up (2018)

Any [Charlie, Harper, Kirsten, Rick]

Other wonderful Netflix movie! I can see a lot of fun directions with this, and don’t be afraid to go AU. Maybe Charlie and Harper had a one night stand in college and now meet as adults, maybe Kirsten and Rick had a fling at some rich person gala, maybe Rick ends things with his ex-wife and has a different fling with Kirsten at the C/H wedding? Or stick with missing scenes in the movie, little slices of life. Bring in other character if you like!

Treats: stealing from the candy bowl, fabulous NYC Halloween parties, crappy NYC Halloween parties, shopping for Halloween costumes from the Lost and Found box at work (and/or contrasted with how the wealthy plan for the holiday)

Tricks: how underpaid interns afford to throw parties, the subway is scary after midnight, cheap dates (with a side of danger)

Knitting (anthropomorphic)

Any [Handspun Wool Yarn (Knitting)/Lily Sugar'n Cream (Knitting)/Malabrigo Sock (Knitting)/Patons Classic Wool (Knitting)/Patons Kroy Socks (Knitting)/ Red Heart Super Saver (Knitting)]

I didn’t prompt this, but what a fun idea. I am a pretty basic knitter and a fairly good crocheter, so get as technical (or not!) as you want. Get shippy? Yarns at different price points forced to work together? Get as weird or meta or conceptual as you want. Or make it like those cozy mystery novels and end with a pattern. Whatever you do with this will fun.

DNW: some A/B/O metaphor

Tricks: forever knotted to the one you hate, created with love and then put in a drawer forever, one mitten lost, part of a spooky Halloween costume, the horror of being a WIP.

Treats: forever knotted to the one you love, appreciated by the recipient, forced to work together but discovering all the yarns’ weaknesses together are a strength.
