Trick or Treat!

In honor of All Hallow’s Eve, I’m inviting trick-or-treaters to my ‘door.’ Comment “trick-or-treat” to this post and…well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I’m glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.). The more “houses” to visit the more fun it’ll be, so go ahead, open your journal and help spread the fun!

And I really enjoy the way you think about something like trick-or-treating through the Panem lens and how utterly fucked up it is by those lights. But you also show how for Haymitch it's also a sign of a more peaceful time so he's coming to terms with it.

Yeah, I like the idea that, following the revolution, things from the Dark Days are allowed again, but so many of them would've been the antithesis of Panem, I think the meld would be hard. Still, kids would love it, no question, so I can't imagine it wouldn't catch on.

I like that idea too, and the new freedom probably would lead to some of them to chase down those pre-Dark Days things. Some of them probably won't catch on, at least not in that generation, because they'll be anathema to the people old enough to remember Old Panem. But some of them probably will stick around, and Halloween is probably one of them.

Oh oh oh! And let's talk about how weird it would be to have someone show up at his door in a Katniss costume. I always love when fic explores that weird post-revolution fame that's probably even more brutal than mere Victor fame.

LOL. Yeah, I'm sure with being governor and a war hero, post-AFAF Haymitch has the press on his ass. And as I said in the epilogue, that means his past (and Johanna's) is something they can't exactly hide from the kids--it's so public.

And there probably are kids showing up in mockingjay costumes. Oy. ;)
