Crossovering 2018

Dear Crossovering Author-

Listen, I am thrilled to be participating in this for the fourth year in a row. Every year is a blast and I’m even more excited to read whatever you write. If you want to stalk me, I'm Diaphenia on AO3 and on tumblr.

For such a broad exchange, I’m not going to put a huge amount of restrictions so feel free to go a little wild. I’d ask that you avoid these three things: kids (obviously canon children are fine, but background them), kink (I’m sort of weird and picky, so I’d rather not even go there) or major OCs (not my bag).

All my suggestions are just that: suggestions. Feel free to mix and match. If you think two of the fandoms I picked, but didn’t offer suggestions for, would be better suited, use them! If the prompts I’m throwing out there don’t excite you, use something else! Make it tropey, throw the characters in Hogwarts or THe Good Place or Panem or a myth or a fairy tale, send everyone to high school or in space. AUs are great. Strict crossovers are great, but so are fusions. Focus on two characters or send everyone to a party. Handwave whatever you need to.  I tend to ship canon couples, but mix and match between fandoms for love or humor. Gen is just as great at shippy fic.

Harlots/Galavant (TV)

Historical humor possibilities abound here! Set it in Mildly Medieval England or Firmly 18th Century depressing England! Maybe Galavant finds himself at a brothel and Isabella must save him. Maybe Charlotte escapes and ends up in whatever time-travel scenario, and buddies up with Sid to go to trade school. Maybe Gal and the Jester take Richard to Margaret’s to make his sexual debut and he takes Fanny for scones, or plays cards with Harriet. Maybe Magdelena decides to take up running a bawdy house for reasons, and she asks the Welles for help. Maybe Isabella is nervous about her first time and asks for advice from Nancy. Listen, this could go super funny or a little dark, and I would love any part of it.

Superstore/Selfie (TV)

(I requested this in 2017, and got it, but I had so much fun with it, I’m repeating my ideas)

This might require a little handwaving, so feel free to make the Cloud 9 employees low-paid hotel workers, or make Kinderkare an advertising firm hired to promote the rebuilt store. Maybe Henry/Eliza are on a work trip and she needs Midol. Maybe Eliza and Jonah follow each other on the socmeds.  Maybe Sam just discovered where poor people shop, and he’s fascinated by the prices. Maybe Charmonique is back at handmodeling and is doing an on-location shoot. Maybe Charlie and Mateo went to school together and Mateo’s super jealous of his job.

Set It Up (2018)/Ocean’s 8 (2018)

Crossing these two can make as little or as much sense as you want it to. I had a blast with both these movies, with the tropey romcom-ness of SIU, or the good time crime of O8, so lean into whichever you’d rather. Harper and Charlie take on new assistant work with the ladies of  O8. Kirsten used to date Lou, and is willing to be seduced back into that life. Rick gets robbed or roped in, depending. Harper writes a profile of Daphne. I’d love to see some fun of that assistant life verses the now fabulous wealth of the post-heist life.

The Good Place/Game of Thrones

This would be an amazing fusion or crossover, either way. TGP gang as the King’s Landing crew? Game of Thrones people realizing they’re in The Bad Place? Excellent. If you want them to mingle, I see incredible potential as well. Think about Cersai in a battle of wits with Vicky, or Brienne leading Chidi into battle. Maybe Jaime has to get his good points in with Eleanor’s help, or Tahani is determined to meet all the royalty so she can name-drop. Maybe Jason accidentally reboots Tyrion? Maybe Dani realizes you can’t set too many people on fire? I could see this going very funny or pretty dark, and I’m here for it.

Standard disclaimer: I haven’t read the books. Throw in winking allusions and jokes, but know that they will fly right over my head.
